Book Overview 

• This Lexicon captures the lasting linguistic legacy of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Arabic language and is the first attempt to systematically capture novel Arabic terms that emerged during the pandemic. It is an essential resource on the vocabulary of pandemics for Arabic language learners and translators, and a helpful guide for general readers interested in Arabic medical terms and the response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the Arab World. The lexicon provides an extensive collection of terminology related to the pandemic, with four thematically-organised subsections: (1) Epidemics; (2) Prevention & Cure; (3) Day-to-Day Living; and (4) Coronaspeak.

• The lexicon also includes additional content to support Arabic learners and contextualise the terminology in Arab culture, such as thematic lists of relevant root-words, popular sayings on sickness and health, and media headlines during the pandemic.
