Course Title: Mastering Qur'anic Arabic: A Beginner's Course on the Essentials of Reading & Correct Pronunciation
Duration: 5 weeks
Format: 2-hour live interactive online class every Saturday
Dates: Round 1: 9 Nov - 7 Dec 2024 Round 2: 28 Dec 2024 - 25 Jan 2025
Timing: Every Saturday 10am-12pm (Morning Group) OR 6-8pm (Evening Group)
Target Audience: Total beginners with no prior knowledge of Arabic
Target age group: 16+ years old.
Total Tuition Hours: 10 hours of live interactive tuition time
Mode of Delivery: The course will be conducted online via Google Meet, offering flexibility for remote participation and enabling real-time interactions, group discussions, multimedia sharing, and collaborative activities. Features like breakout rooms and live chat will be utilised.

Course Fee: £35 (i.e. £3.5 per hour). A discount is available for couples, family members and group bookings.
Overview
Mastering Qur'anic Arabic: A Beginner's Course on the Essentials of Reading & Correct Pronunciation is a 5-week interactive online course designed for total beginners with no prior knowledge of Arabic. Each live class, held every Saturday for 2 hours, will guide you through the fundamental skills necessary to read and pronounce Arabic letters in their Qur'anic script forms. Over the course of 10 hours, you will learn to confidently recognise and interpret essential vowel symbols (ḥarakāt حركات) and their effects on pronunciation, enabling you to read simple Qur'anic words, phrases, and verses accurately. By the end of this course, you will be equipped to read selected short Surahs from the Qur'an with fluency and establish a solid foundation for further studies in Qur'anic Arabic and Tajweed in the future, which will be offered in subsequent courses. About the Instructor
The course is taught by Mourad Diouri, an award-winning educator, author and international consultant with over 20 years of teaching experience at the University of Edinburgh and East Anglia (UK). Currently based at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland as a teaching fellow of Arabic and Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). Mourad’s passion for language education along with his profound understanding of both Qur'anic and Modern Standard Arabic, ensures that students can expect sessions that are both engaging and enlightening, providing a rich and supportive learning experience with guaranteed positive outcomes.
Course Objectives & Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Confidently recognise, read and pronounce all Arabic letters in their Qur'anic script forms.
Confidently recognise and interpret all essential vowel symbols and diacritics (ḥarakāt حركات) and their impact on pronunciation.
Read simple Qur'anic words, phrases and verses with correct pronunciation.
Read selected short Surahs (verses) from the Qur’an with fluency and accuracy.
This course sets the foundation for further Tajwīd studies (i.e. correct recitation of the Qur’an) and advanced Qur’anic comprehension courses (offered in subsequent courses).
